Broken Arrow band celebrating National Championship with encore performance

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The Pride of Broken Arrow is back home from Indianapolis with a big, new trophy.

The BA marching band took home their fourth National Championship over the weekend, performing “Edge of Eternity”.

Cadence Davis, a senior who has played clarinet since the 6th grade, says this marching band has changed her life and what she plans to do in college.

“I’m definitely do it in college and go and make new friends like I did this year. It’s going to set me up for life. I want to do this forever. It’s made my focus become strictly music,” she said.

The Pride of Broken Arrow is now 16-time Grand National Finalist and is the 2006, 2011, 2015 and 2021 Grand National Champion. Broken Arrow also took the awards for Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect.

Cadence says their final performance was emotional, knowing they were performing for the Championship and that it would be her final year with the band.

“I was a wreck, I lost it . I walked onto the field and started crying because I knew this was the last time I was going to get to do this,” she said.

Band Director Darrin Davis says the win is about more than just a trophy.

“Grand Nationals is such a great time. It celebrates youth, it celebrates kids giving the very best of themselves for something that’s bigger than an individual. How many kids can say they did that in high school?!”

The Pride of Broken Arrow will put on an encore performance Tuesday night at 7pm at Memorial Stadium to thank the community for all the support.

Collinsville High School Marching Kahoks also made it to the Bands of America Grand National Championship. They made it to the semi-finals!
