TULSA, Okla. — A.J. Croce is bringing his father’s music alive again, with a tour dedicated to all your Jim Croce favorites.
A.J has spent the past 30 years making a reputation of his own a piano player and vocalist. In the past few years though, the ‘Croce Plays Croce’ concept took off with him sharing stories and songs from his father, his own songs and covers of the songs he says influenced them both.
The concert is making a Tulsa stop Feb. 9, 2023 at the River Spirit Casino, near 81st and Riverside.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
This fall, A.J Croce launched a special edition of the tour to mark the 50th anniversary of You Don’t Mess Around with Jim.
That album, out in 1972, produced three high-charting singles: Operator (That’s Not the Way It Feels), Time In A Bottle and Bad Bad Leroy Brown.
Croce died that same year in a plane crash with his crew. There were no survivors. His own biography page says it was this crash that made Jim Croce a household name, launching I Got A Name to #1 and his previous release, Life and Times, to #2.
Today, Jim Croce record sales have passed the 45 million mark. In 1990, he was inducted into the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame.
