TULSA, Okla. — The City of Tulsa unveiled finished renovations on an east Tulsa park Thursday, including a specialized BMX track.
A ribbon cutting was hosted at McCullough Park, near East 21st Street and South Garnett Road, after the $3.6 million Vision Tulsa renovation project was completed.
New features of the park include a splash pad, playground, walking trails, a multi-use sports court and a BMX pump track. The pump track is a specialized course where riders don’t have to pedal.
FOX23 spoke to BMX National team member Payton Ridenour who participated in the 2020 Olympics.
“My family actually moved to Tulsa in July of last year just for BMX,” said Ridenour. “To have this pump track here is a great addition to the community and a great addition for people who like to ride their bikes like me.”
Students from Disney Elementary’s Bike Club program were at the grand opening, and Ridenour demonstrated how to use the new bike track.
