TULSA, Okla. — The El Guapo’s Mexican restaurant in south Tulsa has closed.
The restaurant had been operating in that spot since 2014.
El Guapo's is part of the McNellie's Group, which also owns Yokozuna, Dilly Diner, McNellie's and more.
McNellie's Group Owner/CEO Elliot Nelson explained the closure on Facebook.
“The economics at this particular location no longer made sense to us.” Nelson wrote.
Nelson said the company remains committed to south Tulsa with its other restaurants in the area. He also said an announcement would come soon about a new south Tulsa project.
According to the post, the McNellie’s Group plans to expand into midtown Tulsa and to St. Louis, MO.
Nelson assured fans of El Guapo’s that the closing of the south Tulsa location will have no impact on the original location in the Blue Dome District in downtown Tulsa.
