Amy Schumer uses words like “beautiful, gross, strong, thin, and fat,” to describe the photo.
The Trainwreck star decided to pose in nothing more than tiny underwear for photographer Annie Leibovitz. “The goal was to be very straightforward,” Leibovitz explained. “I wanted the pictures to show the women exactly as they are, with no pretense.”
She says women because Schumer is one of the women featured in the new Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli Calendar.
The Daily Beast reports others include, "Selma director Ava DuVernay; Yao Chen, the first Chinese goodwill ambassador for United Nations High Commission for Refugees, and tennis star Serena Williams."
Leibovitz calls the group "not classically associated" with the women usually seen as "pin-ups." The New York Times agrees, saying the work gives, "real substance to the theory that we are at a flexion point in the public objectification of female sexuality."
Schumer was unabashed when describing her picture, tummy rolls and all. “I never felt more beautiful.”
