Christmas came a little bit late for the Bixby Fire Department.
Recently, they received about $160,000 worth of new equipment, including grass rigs, a RTV, a water rescue boat and bunker gear for the firefighters. The equipment will help crews battle the upcoming grass fires.
Residents tell us they feel safer knowing the firefighters are well equipped.
“All of this will help,” one resident said. “Especially, if we have those grass fires around here.”
Firefighters add the timing of the new equipment couldn’t be better for battling grass fires.
“Conditions are at the worst right now,” a firefighter said.
The equipment was paid for with capital funds.
