Broken Arrow schools share proposed 4-day school week calendars

Broken Arrow High School (Skyler Cooper)

Broken Arrow Public Schools released three draft calendars for the 2025-2026 school year, including two with 4-day school weeks.

The school district said the calendars are only proposals and have not been voted on by the Board of Education.

The 4-day calendars have 165 school days instead of the traditional 176 days. BAPS said 25 minutes would be added to each school day for all grades to account for the shorter week.

Each calendar has four distance learning days instead of the eight in the current calendar.

The first proposed calendar would have students in class four days per week starting August 7th and ending June 10th. Start times would change for all grade levels, but the elementary school release time would remain at 4 p.m. and the high school release time would change. In this calendar, students would have Fridays off.

The second proposed calendar is very similar to the first, but would give students Mondays off instead of Fridays.

The third calendar would have students in school for the traditional 176 days starting August 13th and ending May 21st. BAPS said elementary and middle school start and release times would change and the high school start time would change.

The school district said the calendar ultimately chosen may not be one of these drafts, but administrators are looking to get feedback from the community.
