Jack in the Box has opened its newest store in south Tulsa, providing the area with around the clock food service and solidifying the chain's reentry into the local market.
The chain closed its last Tulsa-area franchise in 1982, pulling out of the market to focus on other areas of the country.
But just over a year ago it opened a store in Broken Arrow, and Monday's opening at 101st St. and S. Memorial gives it four locations.
Regional Marketing Manager Sean Lockovitch says the chain will likely keep building, although it hasn't chosen any additional locations yet.
Tulsa is the first market for the company to institute 24-hour service at all locations, a rarity in the fast food business.
Jack in the Box also boasts an eclectic menu, including burgers, tacos, salads, egg rolls, and as Lockovitch points out, "breakfast all day," which is a popular draw.
KRMG found several diners on the first day of business at the new location who had fond memories of Jack in the Box and were glad to see the franchise return to Tulsa.
Angela Burnham, for example, said "I used to always eat at Jack in the Box when I was a kid." She was "really glad to see them come" and showed up on day one to enjoy a meal.
David Frankel said "I guess it has memories from Philadelphia, when I was going to school then," and he also added "I was hoping they'd open one here, so when I heard about it a month ago I was very excited."
Each Jack in the Box store employs about 40-50 people, Lockovich says.
