Anyone who was in custody in Oklahoma on charges related to the January 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol riot is now free, according to Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
On his first day back in the White House, President Donald Trump commuted the sentences of individuals “convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, to time served as of January 20, 2025.”
That includes individuals who violently attacked police and damaged property at the Capitol.
President Trump also granted “a full, complete and unconditional pardon to all other individuals convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.”
Trump also directed the attorney general to dismiss, with prejudice, any pending Jan. 6 prosecutions.
The President said the proclamation “ends a grave national injustice that has been perpetrated upon the American people over the last four years and begins a process of national reconciliation.”
Oklahoma Attorney General confirmed those in custody in the state were released.
“I am pleased to report that all J6 prisoners who were in custody here in Oklahoma have been released. I am proud of how our state & local officials worked with federal agencies to implement President Trump’s pardons.” Drummond wrote on social media.
