Oklahoma residents may soon be able to purchase cold beer at liquor stores and strong beer and wine at convenience and grocery stores.
The Retail Liquor Association of Oklahoma announced its support Tuesday for proposed legislation to modernize the state's liquor stores. If the bill is passes, Oklahoma would join 45 other states allowing "single-strength refrigerated beer" statewide.
Board member and liquor salesman J.P. Richard says the association supports the proposal as part of a "unified industry position," because the public favors the change.
