Tulsa's top-rated newstalk format radio station has announced the name of the man who will assume the role of host during morning drive time.

Dan Potter, currently host of the afternoon drive time period, will assume the role of host for the KRMG Morning News beginning Nov. 19th.

He replaces Joe Kelley, who has accepted a position with another Cox Media Group station, WDBO in Orlando, Florida.

Potter comes to the job with more than three decades of radio experience under his belt.

He says he's “humbled, honored and very excited for the opportunity to host the KRMG Morning News.”

And Potter has high praise for his predecessor.

“Under Joe Kelley’s leadership, the KRMG Morning News has become the single most important morning show in Oklahoma, both in terms of content and listenership. I hope to continue the growth Joe started and to attract new listeners to the show.”

The two had previously worked together at WBAP Radio in Dallas.

Potter also says he's not looking to make any major changes.

“I anchored newscasts on a similar morning show in Dallas-Fort Worth for over 15 years and I’m constantly impressed by KRMG’s commitment to covering breaking news better than anyone. You could take this newsroom and this product and put it in any major market in the country and be competitive," he told our reporter.

For most of two decades, Dan was the most-listened-to radio news anchor in the state of Texas.

He has been honored with dozens of awards from various broadcast news organizations, including the Texas Associated Press Broadcasters and the Press Club of Dallas.

He won the national Edward R. Murrow award for best large-market radio newscast from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2000.

Potter also hosts "OK Foodie," Oklahoma's only show dedicated to the state's finest chefs and restaurants.

Dan Potter has also been heavily involved in drum corps and competitive marching band for 30 years.

He is the announcer for many Drum Corps International and marching band shows nationwide.

He also hosts DCI's "Field Pass" podcast, which covers the best in marching music.
