New Reasor's location in Bixby

Future location of new Reasors in Bixby (Shelby Travis)

Bixby grocery shoppers who choose Reasors will soon have their travel time cut down.

That's because the Tahlequah-based chain announced Thursday the store's newest location wil be built at the southwest corner of 111th and Memorial.

We spoke with store founder Jeff Reasor shortly after the announcement.

He said the seeds of the new location were planted four years ago with a meeting with Mayor Ray Bowen.

"We met with Ray and started a cursory discussion and he laid out the city's plan, what they were working on and all that was coming to fruition."

Reasor cited Bixby's 5 and 10-year economic development plans as compatible with the vision for Reasor's stores.

He said Bixby's growth also played a part in the decision.

"We look at rooftops and growth. It is one of the fastest growing areas in the state. So we've had our eye on it for a number of years."

Thursday's announcement included a sign-raising, which was attended by several city leaders.

Reasor says the city fathers are excited about the move.

"They're all very excited and I must say that Reasor's is excited as well."

We asked if the new store will include any unique additions.

"Where we may have a salad bar or an olive bar or a sushi-made-in-store at different locations, this one will roll them all into one, plus the decor package will be a little different."

An official groundbreaking will likely be held in the near future.

A press release on the store's official website says the new store will be 75,000 sq. ft. and will be the 16th for the state's third largest grocer.
