OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — This year marks the 25th anniversary of the 1995 bombing in Oklahoma City.

Organizers spent months planning ways to remember and honor the 168 lives lost, but the coronavirus pandemic has forced them to radically change the event.

A Youtube video posted by the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum made the announcement on Friday.

“What breaks our hearts the most is that as the week has gone by, we know we can’t assemble the large crowds that normally come to this Remembrance Ceremony. Today’s current order from city, state and federal government officials is 10 or less people.” – Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum

They are now working on an alternate idea that will still allow the community to remember the fallen, honor the survivors and thank those who have been changed forever.

A virtual, pre-recorded ceremony will provide 16 seconds of silence of the reading of the names of those killed.

The virtual ceremony is set for April 19.
