After his election in 2018, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt chose a longtime friend, Sean Kouplen, to be his Secretary of Commerce and Workforce Development.
Kouplen accepted the job, but told the governor he only wanted to do it for two years.
Those two years have come and gone, so Kouplen is kept his word and told the governor he would be stepping down.
“I really needed to keep that commitment to my employees and shareholders.” Kouplen told KRMG.
Outside of state government, Kouplen is a busy guy. He is the Chairman and CEO of Regent Bank.
“I’ve been doing both... I’ve been trying to run the bank as well as do the Secretary of Commerce duties.” He said.
Kouplen said he’s looking forward to having more time to focus on his work at the bank, but he was very fond of his time with the state.
“I loved every minute of that.” Kouplen added.
