One dead, three hurt in Arkansas nuclear plant accident

The accident happened at the Entergy Arkansas plant in Russellville Arkansas just south of I-40.

Workers were moving large pieces of equipment when a generator broke loose and fell onto the men, killing one of them.

The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment and evaluation.

The company claims there was never any threat to the public and the plants nuclear capability was not threatened or damaged.

The plant provides up to 30% of the energy demand of the entire state of Arkansas.

Entergy’s head nuclear officer Jeff Forbes released the following statement.

"We are deeply saddened by what has happened today," our greatest sympathy is with the family and friends of the employee who lost his life, and with those who sustained injuries."

The plants nuclear reactors were shut down after the accident for the sake of precaution.
