Tulsa Police say they’ve busted a major auto-theft ring that was operating out of Bixby.
Detectives say they can’t remember seeing an operation of this magnitude before.
“57 known vehicles and approximately two-and-a-half million dollars worth of inventory,” said Tulsa Police Detective Darin Howse.
Police say the inventory includes many high-end vehicles, including a Bentley SUV, that were stolen mainly from dealerships and car-rental companies all around the country.
Police say the suspects would get new titles for the vehicles here and then resell them wherever they could find a buyer.
In fact, police say it was a buyer in Texas who tipped off police, when the buyer found the VIN number on the vehicle they bought didn’t correctly match the vehicle.
Police served search warrants at three different locations in Bixby, including two houses and an apartment complex.
“The bulk of the vehicles were held at the apartment complex, where you could leave a stack of eleven vehicles without them being noticed,” Howse said.
Three suspects have been arrested.
Police say they plan to arrest two more.
They say the suspects are new to the Bixby area and don’t appear to have any previous contact with police.
