RED ALERT TRAFFIC: Crash on Hwy 412 shuts down westbound lanes

Semi crash on Hwy 412 (Russell Mills)

The westbound lanes of Hwy 412 were shut down for several hours Friday due to a crash involving a semi that hit a bridge.

The wreck occurred about two miles east of the Hwy 412 and Hwy 99 junction.

Traffic was diverted at Hwy 48,  several miles east of the wreck which occurred about 9:30 Friday morning.

OHP tells KRMG the driver survived the crash, but the truck was completely destroyed.

He was transported to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority kept the road closed for so long so they could determine whether any structural damage was done to the bridge.

It turned out to be undamaged, and troopers announced they had reopened the road a little before 3:00 p.m., meaning it was shut down for about five and a half hours.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation.

No other vehicles were involved.
