The National Weather Service in Tulsa has extended the wind advisory until noon for Tulsa and surrounding counties.

Strong wind gusts are occurring on the back side of a powerful upper level low pressure system. Some gusts are reaching 50 MPH.

Meteorologists with the News on 6 say we can expect clearing skies today with temperatures ranging from the mid-30s to the mid-40s.

Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph will subside late in the day. Wind chill values in the 20s are expected.

The winds have caused some scattered power outages across the Tulsa area. Stan Whiteford with PSO tells KRMG that over 2000 outages were reported earlier this morning.

Just before 10 A.M., that number had fallen to around 800.

Whiteford says most of the outages are in Broken Arrow, southeast Tulsa and southwest Tulsa.
