BRISTOW, Okla. — Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) is investigating a fatal accident on Turner Turnpike near mile marker 199 in Bristow, Okla.

Around 3:20 p.m., the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) announced Turner Turnpike has been narrowed to one lane in the area due to the crash.

OHP said the initial call came in as a person laying in the road on Turner Turnpike, and the person in the roadway caused a second collision.

A spokesperson for OHP confirmed the person in the roadway is dead, and investigators believe the person was hit by a vehicle.

OHP is investigating the second crash at this time.

OTA said the lane closure is expected to last several hours.
