OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma City Police Department (OKCPD) has released bodycam footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Nov. 15, 2022.
Earlier this month, OKCPD said they were notified that a man with an out-of-state warrant was in a trailer near SE. 134th St. and S. Harrah Rd. Police learned the suspect, Timothy Johnson, had been seen entering the trailer and was told he had not come out.
Police then obtained consent to search the trailer and entered.
While they were searching the trailer, police lifted a mattress that covered a storage area. When the trailer was lifted, police saw Johnson hiding the storage area, armed with a pistol.
OKCPD said Johnson immediately opened fire on the officers.
Officers returned fire and retreated outside the trailer.
OKCPD said the OKCPD Tactical Unit was then activated and responded to the scene.
According to OKCPD, attempts to make contact with Johnson were unsuccessful and the Tactical Unit later entered the trailer and found Johnson dead.
One officer suffered a non-life threatening injury when he was hit in the face by flying debris during the fire fight. That officer was treated and released at an area hospital.
All of the involved officers were place on routine administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Police also said the woman who gave police consent the search the trailer told police that no one was inside the trailer. It was later discovered that she knew Johnson was hiding inside the trailer with a gun when she gave consent to search.
That woman was arrested for harboring a fugitive.
