A man on a bike had decided to try to rob a man who was outside his home smoking a cigarette in South Philadelphia. Little did the armed cyclist know that his alleged potential victim was armed and ended up shooting the assailant, killing him.
Police said it happened Wednesday just before 11:30 p.m. They found a man, 30, laying on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. The man was taken to an area hospital where he died.
The man, 24, who shot the bicyclist told police that he was in front of his home smoking a cigarette when a guy on a bike approached him, pointed a gun and “announced a robbery,” police said, according to WCAU.
He told police he pulled his own gun, which he is licensed to carry, and shot the man in the head, KYW reported. The bicyclist was able to fire a shot or two of his own, police said, according to WTXF.
