TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department (TPD) took five people into custody on Monday for charges ranging from joyriding to kidnapping.

On Jan. 28, a kidnapping and robbery happened in an apartment near 23rd and Garnett in east Tulsa.

TPD says the kidnapping victim went to the apartment to sell his iPhone, but instead Cody Griffin and Annastasia Hildbrand held him at gunpoint and stole his phones, money and car.

Griffin and Hildbrand bound and gagged the victim and left him inside a closet for several hours, while they attempted to use his stolen debit card and pin.

According to TPD, Fernando Medina-Moreno stole the victim’s SUV. Officers saw the SUV on Monday near 5100 East 47th Place.

Medina-Moreno was taken into custody and admitted to being present for the robbery and stealing the vehicle. He then told officers Griffin and Hildbrand were responsible for the robbery.

At the same time Medina-Moreno was being interviewed, Griffin and Hildbrand refused to pull over a stolen Volkswagen Jetta they were driving on I-244 near Memorial, and led police on a chase.

Officers lost sight of the Jetta, but were dispatched to the area where Griffin and Hildbrand abandoned the car, and were notified two other passengers were in the car with them. They quickly caught Griffin and Hildbrand. Griffin was carrying a stolen gun.

The other two suspects, Nathan Lewis and Dakota Kelley were caught at a nearby intersection. They were taken into custody.

On top of everything else, officers also found a pound of marijuana in the stolen Jetta.
