TULSA, Okla. — Two 15-year-old boys were arrested Saturday after they were involved in crimes involving guns, Tulsa police said.

Tulsa police responded to reports of juveniles pointing firearms in the parking lots of the Wu Hot and Red Lobster Restaurants near 67th and Memorial just before 9 p.m.

Police said witnesses followed some of the suspects to the south parking lot of Woodland Hills Mall and officers detained 15 juveniles who were identified by witnesses as being involved in the fights and firearm pointing.

A 15-year-old boy had a loaded Ruger semi-automatic pistol in his pants, police said in a press release.

A short time later, reports of shots fired came in from the Walmart parking lot where witnesses reported that a juvenile was shooting at a car and people in the car were shooting back at him, police said.

“An off-duty deputy, who was working security at the Walmart, tackled the suspect and took him into custody,” police said in a press release. “After he was detained a loaded Glock pistol with an extended magazine was found concealed in his clothing. The suspect arrested at Walmart was identified by the victim as the person who pointed a gun at her in the Wu Hot parking lot. Several of the juveniles contacted wore or had in their possession latex surgical gloves. Officers suspect vehicles may have burglarized.”

The Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office identified the deputy as Deputy Ashley Treat.

The suspect continued to fight with Deputy Treat after being placed into handcuffs, the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office said on social media. Since Deputy Treat did not have her patrol car to secure the suspect, Deputy Treat had to hold the suspect down on a bench until Tulsa Police arrived, the sheriff’s office said.

Two 15-year-old boys were arrested in connection with the incident.

One was arrested for pointing a deadly weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, and unlawful carry of a firearm. The other was arrested for unlawful carry of a firearm by a juvenile.

Seventeen other unsupervised juveniles were detained during the investigations and their parents were called to pick them up.
