Watkins had a long career in government, having been first elected to public office in 1974, winning a seat in the Oklahoma State Senate. He was later elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and served four years on the Banking and Finance Committee and on the Science and Technology Committee, amongst others. He was 86 years old.

It was announced in August of 2024 that Catoosa’s Blue Whale was getting a funding boost from the Oklahoma Route 66 Commission.

Jacey Duncan, a sixth-grade science and STEM teacher at Oklahoma Union Public Schools, was named teacher of the year by Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom, a program meant to familiarize students with the state’s food and fiber industry by providing resources for Oklahoma teachers.

Officers said an argument then broke out between the group of men and the employees and other patrons at the restaurant. During the fight, two adults received minor injuries, while an adult male was taken to the hospital for stab wounds.

Around 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Tulsa Police say there was some kind of a dispute between two men in the parking lot of the QT near 11th and Garnett. They say that the dispute led to shots being fired, and one of the men being hit.
