As host of KRMG’s flagship news program, The KRMG Morning News, Dan Potter has won two National Association of Broadcasters Marconi Awards for medium market Personality of the Year as well as similar honors from the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters. Dan came to KRMG as news director and morning news anchor in 2008. He began hosting the KRMG Morning News in 2012. He and his wife Martha live in midtown with two very spoiled dogs and lots of pictures of their five grandkids.
Dan Potter chats with Tulsa’s most creative and interesting personalities, makers, artists, and thought leaders. New episodes will be posted on the second and fourth Wednesdays each month.
Founded in 2021, the King Cabbage Brass Band has taken Tulsa by storm. They released their first album, Live at Cain's, in 2022 and play sold out clubs almost every weekend. Founders Greg Fallis and Nicholas Foster spoke with Dan on the first day of the music camp the band sponsors called "Brass at the Ballpark.."
The conclusion of Dan's first-ever chat with the man who hosted the KRMG morning show for almost 30 years, the great John Erling. John is the creator and host of the Oklahoma Historical Society's "Voice of Oklahoma" audio history podcast.
Since 1976, there have only been three hosts of the morning show on KRMG. Dan Potter has hosted since 2012, Joe Kelley hosted from 2005-2012 and, before that, for almost 30 years, the legendary John Erling ruled the Tulsa airwaves with a unique mix of humor and controversy. John's voice hasn't been heard on KRMG since his last commercials faded away around 2009, or so. But...that ended this week when Dan invited John back to our studios to be on a guest both on-air, and on this podcast.
