Highway Patrol urges caution during busy travel holiday
Steve Berg – KRMG News11/25/2025 1:51pm OKLAHOMA – The Thanksgiving holiday travel season will shift into high gear tomorrow, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is urging safety.OHP Chief Joe Williams says his troopers see too many tragedies on the road, and it’s even tougher during the holidays, so he wants to remind people of basic, but important, safety tips.”Keep your focus on the road, not your phone,” Williams said. “Be patient, buckle up, and if you’ve been drinking, don’t drive.” OHP reports 9 people died in driving accidents during last year’s Thanksgiving holiday period, eight in vehicles, as well as one pedestrian.In 7 of those deaths, they say no seatbelts were in use, and in 2 deaths, they say alcohol was involved.
