JENKS, Okla. — A first-degree murder charge has been filed against a man accused of hitting and killing a woman with his car in Jenks on Sunday.
Jenks Police said the victim, identified as 25-year-old Eriyon Shanaye Tecson, had been “acting as a Good Samaritan” and helped a woman, identified as Dayna Fesler, by giving her a ride to a family member’s home.
Shortly after arriving, Tecson was hit and killed by a car driven by 19-year-old Uriel Cazares Vega, according to police.
Vega was originally arrested on a complaint of manslaughter, but after further investigation, those charges have been upgraded to first-degree murder.
Fesler has also been charged with accessory to murder and was taken into custody on Tuesday.
According to police, Vega and Fesler are known to be in a dating relationship and were reportedly involved in an argument the evening before the incident. Police said Vega left Fesler on the side of the road, where Tecson picked her up.
According to court documents, Fesler is accused of making false statements to police about the incident in an attempt to help Vega.
Jenks Police shared the following statement in part:
“At this stage of the investigation, it is believed she was simply attempting to help someone in need. This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional details will be released as they become available.”
