The Senate homeland security committee has JUST VOTED to advance the nomination of Senator Markwayne Mullin to be the next Secretary of Homeland Security.
The vote was 8 to 7 with Democratic Senator John Fetterman voting in favor… Republican Rand Paul voting NO.
Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin sat for his first confirmation hearing on Wednesday after being nominated to lead the Department of Homeland Security. He answered questions about how ICE would operate — saying they would work with jails on deportations rather than having officers in the streets. He admitted he should’ve retracted statements he made about Alex Pretti — one of the people killed by federal agents in Minnesota… and he vowed to end a policy Secretary Kristi Noem has had to approve any FEMA and other payouts over 100-thousand dollars.
Senators questioning Mullin about comments he’s made about war and military ops, despite not having served himself. He told the committee that he had been involved in classified trips overseas and would only discuss them in a confidential setting.
