Ascension St. John Owasso launches certified nurse midwives program

OWASSO, Okla. — Ascension St. John Owasso has launched a certified nurse midwives program.
The midwives will support women during pregnancy and labor by offering personalized and holistic care, working alongside doctors and nurses.
Certified nurse midwife Carla May explained the type of care she can provide for pregnant women through the program.
“We’re just able to offer more services to women, more options. Certified nurse midwives, we take care of low risk women throughout the lifespan. We do all the well woman care, not just prenatal care and we catch babies. But if we have something going on in the pregnancy that becomes a medical complication, we are right here with our OBGYN physicians and we can refer them and consult with them and get them the care they need right here in Owasso.”
The certified nurse midwife program is set to expand to Claremore in January.
