Tulsa, Okla. — A Tulsa man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to shooting and killing his four-year-old son in August.
Jaylen Green pleaded guilty to second degree felony murder on Wednesday and was sentenced on Thursday.
TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said a man was arrested after injuring his girlfriend and killing his 4-year-old son in a shooting.
Police said on Sunday around 7:30 p.m., officers were called to the Seminole Apartments near East Virgin Street and North Utica Avenue for a shooting.
Family members told 911 that the suspect, Jaylen Green, shot his son and girlfriend and that the victims left for the hospital.
Police said while some officers responded to the scene, other officers were on the lookout for the car heading to the hospital.
The car the victims were driving to the hospital broke down near North Lewis Avenue and East Pine Street and first responders assisted there.
Police said the 4-year-old was non-responsive and EMSA began working on the boy. He and his mother were rushed to the hospital. Officers drove ahead of the ambulance to clear a path in traffic.
The 4-year-old died to his injuries at the hospital.
The mother underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
Police said it is currently unclear what led to the shooting and homicide detectives are still working the case.
Green was booked into the Tulsa County Jail for second degree murder, possession of a firearm and resisting arrest.
