TULSA, Okla. — Entrepreneur and co-founder of the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation, Bill Lobeck, has passed away.
Lobeck’s wife and former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor shared a statement to Facebook confirming her husband’s passing.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share that my husband and partner of more than 31 years passed this morning. I was fortunate to be by his side and he passed peacefully,” said Taylor. “Those who know him know he was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, friend and colleague.”

William E. Lobeck, known as Bill, is remembered for his leadership and principles. Lobeck began his career in Norfolk, Virginia where he created the first dealer repurchase program.
Lobeck’s work brought him from Virginia to Texas where he became the CEO of American International in Dallas. In the early 80s, Lobeck moved to Tulsa after purchasing Thrifty Car Rental.
Lobeck was dedicated to his community, having served on several boards, including the Boards of Nordam, Legal Shield, the Philbrook Museum of Art, and the trustee board for the University of Tulsa.
His family asks that the community consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association – Tulsa Chapter, Philbrook Museum of Art or Old Dominion University, Lobeck’s alma mater, instead of flowers and gifts.
Kathy Taylor has said that she will be taking the remainder of the year off to “rest and reflect.”
