TULSA, Okla. — Police have arrested a man after they say he tried to report a stolen vehicle he had in his possession was stolen from him.
On Thursday morning around 9 a.m., officers received an laert about a stolen truck driving in the area of 11300 East Skelly Drive. They later found the Ford F150, stolen our of Arkansas, in a driveway near 10800 East 15th Place.
No one was at the residence and the truck was towed and the owner was told about the truck being recovered.
Hours later around 12 p.m., officers received a call from Brandon Hernandez, 32, who lives where the stolen truck was located. He then wanted to report thathis truck had been stolen.
Hernandez claimed he purchased the truck the night before in Fayetteville, Arkansas saying he got a “good deal” and paid only $400. He said he was originally going to use the money to bail out his girlfriend, who was in jail in Arkansas, but decided to buy the truck instead, then planned to return later to get her.
Officers say they spoke to the rightful owner of the truck who reported it stolen. Officers found a wallet, tools and other items belonging to the owner.
Hernandez was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County Jail on possession of a stolen vehicle.
