A homeless Tulsa man has been sentenced to life in prison, for physically and sexually assaulting a local nun.
Federal prosecutors say in May of 2022, 43-year-old Elga Eugene Harper, showed up unannounced at Ellie Finlay’s house, where she had paid him to do some repair jobs around the house in the past.
But this time, after he asked to use the restroom and got inside, they say Harper tied her up – even putting a noose around her neck – and attacked her for hours.
He was tried, convicted, won an appeal, then retried, and – in August – found guilty a second time.
Finlay passed away between the two trials.
Harper will be transferred to federal prison to serve out his sentence.
