SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — A juvenile was taken into custody after he led law enforcement on a chase Thursday night, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

OHP said they were requested around 8:30 p.m. on January 1 to assist with a pursuit by Sand Springs Police Department. They were told that a juvenile male stole a vehicle from a staff member at the Tulsa Boys Home.

Sand Springs Police located the vehicle and the driver failed to yield. OHP says a trooper joined the pursuit on U.S. 412 near 65th West Avenue.

The trooper attempted a tactical vehicle intervention on U.S. 412 near the Gilcrease Expressway, but the driver recovered and continued to drive. He then lost control of the vehicle and hit a concrete wall at the northwest corner of the IDL.

The driver was taken into custody without incident.

OHP says the driver was not injured, but was still taken to the hospital to be looked at before taken to the Community Intervention Center to be held for charges.

The identity of the driver has not been released at this time.
