TULSA, Okla. — A Special Purpose is hosting an all-abilities family skate day at WeStreet Ice Center on Monday.
The nonprofit is offering free registration for 50 skaters from the special needs community to have fun on the ice from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
WeStreet Ice Center will provide skate helpers for beginners to use, and hockey sleds for those that need to sit to glide on the ice. Wheel chairs assisted by a skate coach are welcome in the ice rink.
A Special Purpose will have a sensory area near the ice rink to take a break when needed and there will be coaches to help the skaters.
Remember to bring a helmet and any other safety gear you may need to stay injury free, should a fall occur.
The nonprofit said siblings and parents are welcome to skate too. The event is free and concessions will be available for purchase.
WeStreet Ice Center is located at 4143 South Yale Avenue.
