Multiple people shot in shooting at east Tulsa bar

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department is currently investigating a shooting at a bar in east Tulsa from earlier this month.

Officers responded to a shooting at Friendly Tavern near 31st Street and South 129th East Avenue on January 9 around 2 a.m. Once on scene, officers found multiple victims and several witnesses in the parking lot. Police say witnesses were less than cooperative with officers on scene.

Through the investigations, police discovered an incident took place outside the bar and a security guard went outside to break it up. One person involved in the incident pulled out a gun and began shooting toward the security guard.

The security guard returned fire, hitting the suspect. Police say the suspect shot two other people in the parking lot while shooting at the security guard.

The suspect was hit in the head and is still undergoing treatment at a hospital. The other two struck by gunfire sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The security guard was questioned and released pending further investigation. Police say all evidence will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for review once it is complete.
