TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa man was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a 65-year-old man.
On Jan. 8, a jury convicted Joseph Arndt of first degree murder and possession of a firearm after former conviction of a felony.
On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Arndt to life in prison for the first degree murder conviction and 10 years in prison for the firearms charge, set to run consecutively with his life sentence.
In January 2024, police forced their way into the home of 65-year-old Cecil Busby after receiving a call asking them to check on his wellbeing.
When officers entered the home, they discovered Busby had died by homicide and his car was missing.
Later that month, police arrested Arndt on an outstanding robbery charge and for the murder of Busby.
According to authorities, Arndt confessed to another person he had murdered Busby and that person then reported Arndt’s confession to police.
When Arndt was arrested, police reported he had the keys to Busby’s car in his possession and that blood was located inside Busby’s car.
