Man arrested, accused of driving drunk on snowy roads in Miami

MIAMI, Okla. — The Miami Police Department arrested a man accused of driving drunk on snowy roads Saturday.

Police said officers responded to reports of a vehicle that had run off the road near East Steve Owens Boulevard, and continued moving.

The vehicle was later found pulling into a local gas station, where officers approached the driver.

The driver told officers he was “giving a heads up about the cold weather.”

Police said officers saw signs the driver was intoxicated.

The driver admitted to drinking and declined field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody for DUI and later booked into the Ottawa County Jail without incident.

The Miami Police Department said stopping impaired drivers is a top priority. Snowy roads are tricky enough on their own and adding impairment turns them into a serious hazard.

Plan ahead and keep the roads safe, police said.
