WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing several deputies who responded to a residential fire in Coweta last week.

The reports states that deputies were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 13400 block of South 254th East Avenue on Sunday around 3 a.m. Deputies S. Kim, M. Burnside, and Lt. P. Ashley responded to the scene with local fire departments.

Citizens say Deputy Burnside was the first on scene and entered into the home to assist an elderly person still inside attempting to locate pets. Lt. Ashley arrived shortly after to assist Burnside and successfully remove both the residents and pets from the fire. Deputy S. Kim stayed with the family to keep them safe and provide updates.

“These deputies demonstrated exactly what it means to serve and protect,” said Wagoner County Sheriff Chris Elliot. “Their actions that morning went above and beyond the call of duty. We are incredibly proud of Deputies Kim, Deputy Burnside, and Lt. Ashley, for their courage, professionalism, and compassion. Our thoughts remain with the family affected by this fire, and we hope for their continued recovery during this difficult time.”
