OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — State Representative Ajay Pittman resigned today from the Oklahoma House of Representatives before turning herself into the Oklahoma County Jail.
Pittman served House District 99.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the constituents of House District 99, ” Pittman wrote on her Substack page. “From the first day I took the oath, my commitment was simple: be effective and do the work, put people first, and make a difference. I am honored to say that my service in the office was effective as a local and national policy collaborator who handled our day-to-day governmental affairs.”
Pittman faces counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, forgery in the second degree, and violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act. She had pled guilty to all counts.
In October 2025, she was temporarily suspended from the House Democratic Caucus and all House committees following a lawsuit of fraud accusations. Pittman was under investigation earlier in the year by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
The Oklahoma Ethics Commission released a statement today saying they have resolved the investigation involving Pittman involving misuse of campaign funds, fraud, and falsified filings.
The commission writes that under the terms of the settlement and agreed-upon judgement, Pittman admits she knowingly and intentionally violated the state’s campaign-finance laws by using campaign funds for personal use which included withdrawing funds as cash for personal expenses, paying personal credit card charges with campaign funds, submitting falsified campaign reports, and presenting fraudulent documents to the Ethics Commission.
“This case involved intentional misconduct and deception, not reporting errors or technical mistakes,” said Lee Anne Bruce Boone, Executive Director of the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. “Campaign funds are not personal funds, and when an elected official deliberately abuses that trust, the Commission will pursue every appropriate remedy available under the law.”
Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond released a statement to Pittman pleading guilty stating:
“Public officials hold a sacred trust with the people they serve. When that trust is violated for personal gain, it strikes at the very heart of our institutions. This office will continue to hold elected officials accountable when they abuse their positions and betray the public’s confidence. No one is above the law in Oklahoma.”
Drummond’s officer states that Pittman will receive a seven-year deferred sentence and will also pay full restitution for the misused campaign funds to a charitable organization. The Oklahoma Ethics Commission has separately voted to accept a settlement with Pittman.
Speaker of the House, Kyle Hilbert released a statement saying:
“Today, I received a copy of Representative Pittman’s resignation from the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Her resignation follows serious and proven violations of ethics laws. This conduct is unacceptable and falls well below the standard expected of anyone serving in the Oklahoma House of Representatives.”
House Democratic Leader, Cyndi Munson, released the following statement on Pittman’s resignation:
“I’ve been made aware of the resignation of Rep. Ajay Pittman. When these severe allegations against Rep. Ajay Pittman came out in October, the Oklahoma House Democratic Caucus temporarily suspended Rep. Pittman from House Democratic Caucus membership and activities pending the results of the investigation. While we believe everyone has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, with charges formally filed, we know that Rep. Pittman will no longer be able to serve the people of House District 99. I thank Rep. Pittman for her service to the House of Representatives and especially to those in her district. The Oklahoma House Democratic Caucus remains committed to accountability and transparency for all elected officials. We will continue our work in serving all constituents and showing up day after day to find solutions to the problems they face. That is what we were elected to do and our focus on that mission has not wavered.”
