Former University of Tulsa football standout Tracy Scroggins, who had 60-and-a-half sacks in 10 seasons for the Detroit Lions, has died at the age of 56.
The Lions announced Scroggins’ death on Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 270 pound defensive end, was from Checotah and attended Coffeyville Community College in Kansas before transferring to Tulsa. He played for the Golden Hurricane from 1990 to 1991 and was selected in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft as the 53rd overall pick.
A cause of death has not been provided.
He played in 142 games, starting 89 in the regular season and helped the Lions reach the NFL playoffs five times. He only played professionally for the Detroit Lions in a career that spanned 10 years.
