1 dead after Muskogee shooting, suspect in custody

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — The Muskogee Police Department said a man is dead and a suspect is in custody after a shooting on Monday.

We told you on Monday when officers found a victim with a gunshot wound around 2:25 p.m. in a house near North 6th Street and Market Street.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old Mustafrouc Miller. He was transported to a Tulsa hospital, where he died on Tuesday.

Police said 43-year-old Shelton Wade Smith was arrested in connection to the shooting.

Smith was originally arrested on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and shooting with intent to kill. The charges have been changed to trafficking methamphetamine and first degree murder.

Police said the shooting remains under investigation.
