CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. — Cleveland County is now under a county-wide burn ban.
The Cleveland County Board of County Commissioners voted to issue it in response to the high fire danger.
The 14-day ban prohibits all fires, campires, bonfires, as well as the burning of trash and other items.
If a person is convicted of violating the ban, they will be guilty of a misdemeanor which is punishable by a fine not over $500, imprisonment of no more than a year, or both.
People are still allowed to cook outdoors on approved cooking appliances with caution.
