TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Public Schools says they have recommended to the Board of Education a reduction of 50 jobs.
They say the layoffs would be of their district administrative workforce.
“We are committed to supporting those affected, including honoring existing contracts through the end of fiscal year on June 30, along with offering benefit and career transition assistance,” TPS said in a media statement. “The team members associated with these roles have served the students and families of our district, and we are deeply grateful for their dedication, talent, and contributions. While this is a challenging moment, it is critical to align our workforce to the current enrollment counts for the long-term stability and success of our district.”
TPS says they shared with employess the district has faced budget challenges including fewer enrolled students. They say after months of review and the assistance of a third-party review, they are preparing to announce the first-phase of “administrative realignment” to reduced an anticipated budget deficit.
