REDMOND, Wash. – Police officers in Redmond, Washington had their hands full as they tried to get control of a “determined beaver” obstructing traffic near a busy intersection on February 25.
Officers responded after receiving a report about the animal, and upon arrival found the “suspicious subject” attempting to cross the road.
Redmond police posted on social media, “Despite clear verbal commands, the subject refused to comply and continued evading officers, demonstrating blatant disregard for crosswalks, traffic signals, and basic roadway safety rules.”
Eventually, the officers were able to coax the beaver across the roadway and into a nearby wooded area.
“During the incident, the beaver did deploy his tail in a brief act of resistance, slapping one officer’s hand. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. No arrests were made, and no citations were issued. We are told the suspect lacks both ID and a driver’s license,” police wrote.
The Department advised anyone in the area to use caution, especially at night, as the individual has shown a clear pattern of ignoring traffic laws.
