TULSA, Okla. — The City of Tulsa has confirmed the developer behind the Project Anthem data center has withdrawn its rezoning request tied to Phase 2 of the project.

Earlier this month, we covered when the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (TMAPC) voted to delay making a final decision on whether to approve Project Anthem’s rezoning request for an expansion.

The request asked for 375 acres of land near East 11th Street and South 193rd Avenue to be rezoned for industrial use.

However, before the rescheduled vote could take place on April 1, the company behind Project Anthem chose to withdraw their rezoning request for the land.

However, the City said the developer has plans to keep evaluating various options for Phase 2 of Project Anthem.

Last week, the Tulsa City Council approved a moratorium that pauses the approval and construction of new data centers in the Tulsa area; however, Project Anthem was excluded since it had already been approved before the moratorium was passed.
