TULSA, Okla. — The final section of the cab module for the Tulsa International Airport’s new air traffic control tower was lifted into place on Monday morning.
“Today we are super excited because Flintco Construction is moving the final piece of the cab to our new traffic control tower,” said Kim Kuehler, the Communications Manager at Tulsa International Airport. “We’ve had this impressive crawler crane out for a few months, so it’ll be leaving here shortly. It’s just kind of the end of vertical construction of our tower.”
Kuehler said the piece lifted into place on Monday is the area some of the air traffic controllers will use to monitor the airfield from above.
Kuehler gave a timeline update on when the project is expected to be completed.
“Flintco should be finished at the end of this year, maybe early 2027, and then we hand the keys over to the FAA because it takes anywhere from six months to a year for them to move in all their radar equipment, their computers, even something like furniture.”
The new air traffic control tower is the largest infrastructure project in the airport’s history.
