OKLAHOMA — Attorney General Gentner Drummond said prosecution of the Epic Charter Schools co-founders is moving forward after attempts to disqualify the trial judge.
Drummond’s office said the trial for Ben Harris and David Chaney, who both face multiple felony charges arising from an Epic Charter Schools investigation, is back on track.
The trial was delayed after the defendants attempted to disqualify the trial judge. A next phase of testimony is now set for Feb. 25-27.
“We remain fully focused on presenting the facts and evidence in this case,” said Drummond. “We are committed to ensuring that no one sidetracks justice or evades accountability.”
Harris and Chaney face charges of racketeering, embezzlement and obtaining money by false pretenses. The charges follow a multi-year investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and an audit by State Auditor and Inspector Cindy Byrd.
