Tulsa councilor displeased after he says trash crews left bagged leaves behind

By Steve Berg

Tulsa City Councilor Phil Lakin says he found out that even being on the council, doesn’t guarantee your leaves get picked up.

Lakin posted on his council Facebook page that he put 15 bags of leaves – that’s the max allowed – on his curb this week and said he was “not happy” to see later that only 3 were picked up by trash crews.

That’s not how it’s supposed to work, and he says he’ll work to get it fixed.

And he wants other people to let him know if it’s happened to them too.

His email address is Dist8@tulsacouncil.org

Quite a few people commenting on his Facebook post said that they had a similar experience with bagged leaves being left behind by trash crews.

Lakin said he just wants to make sure that citizens are getting the service that they’re paying for.

Keep in mind, he says, that the bags must be clear plastic, be less than 40 pounds, be within four feet of the curb, and only contain green waste such as leaves and grass.
