SKIATOOK, Okla. — A man has been arrested after authorities say he seriously injured a 10-year-old boy with a knife.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to a home in the Skiatook area just after 6 p.m. by a person who was applying a tourniquet to the arm of the boy.
Deputies learned that the boy ran to the neighbor’s house for help after a relative threw a knife at him, causing a laceration that reached the bone.
The boy told deputies that Jacob Gilmartin, 32, threatened to kill him as he retrieved the knife from the kitchen.
Deputies followed a trail of blood from the neighbor’s home back to Gilmartin’s residence.
Gilmartin was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on complaints of threatening an act of violence, child abuse by injury, and domestic assault with a dangerous weapon. He remains in custody on a hold for the Cherokee Nation.
The boy was taken to the hospital for treatment.
